Can old Automakers be Design Thinkers?
- Client stakeholder on working with Chris Chiaravalli
Chris took the leadership role in a multi-day workshop to help the team ideate around new features for one of our critical programs.
I was very impressed with Chris' ability to keep the enthusiasm/energy at a high level throughout. Chris was able to get significant engagement from the team - especially from team members that are traditionally introverted. Leading the dialogue and interactions came very natural to Chris, he made it look easy and we had a very successful outcome.
How do you energize and inspire large design teams in an entrenched work culture?
A large US automaker wanted to rethink drive modes and other driver engagement features using design thinking. Chris lead the team in a three day workshop to energize them around that idea, inspire them to come up with new ideas, and get them out of their comfort zones.
Employees were taken through a range of activities designed to increase their empathy for the user and unleash their natural creativity.
How are they going to get made?
Workshops like the one we ran sometimes fizzle out when they are over. Instead, we continued the momentum created with the establishment of work teams and plans to carry out the multiple new concepts we generated together.
